Farewell, Claude

Our entire team and Board of Directors are saddened by the passing of Professor Claude Guertin earlier this week.

Trained in biology and a professor-researcher in ecology and entomology at INRS since 1993, Claude Guertin headed INRS’s Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie reache and training centre from 2019, before becoming INRS’s Scientific Director in 2021.

In this capacity, he has been an invaluable ally in the rollout of the INRS Foundation with both the internal and external communities. He joined the Board of Directors of the INRS Foundation in 2021, where he was highly regarded for his human qualities and sense of collaboration by all those who worked with him. He also played a leadership role in the creation of our Career Transition Scholarship awarded for the first time this year.

As we miss him already, we extend our deepest sympathies to Professor Guertin’s colleagues and students, and our condolences to his family and friends.
