On this World Cancer Day, discover the work of researchers Valerie Langlois and Isabelle Plante and their team at the ICEDA.

Based at INRS, the Intersectoral Centre for Endocrine Disruptor Analysis (ICEDA) is a group of researchers whose mission is to identify, recognize, quantify and manage endocrine disruptors present in our environment and their effects on human and animal health.

These substances can interfere with all stages of cellular regulation in aquatic vertebrates, from hormone synthesis to target cell response.

As a result, they can alter vertebrate metabolism, development and reproduction. These chemicals affect the health of the general population and environmental health. The ICEDA brings together the expertise of several scientific disciplines to promote dialogue among those working on endocrine disruptors.
