The new INRS Career Transition Scholarship, which will be offered starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, is intended to provide support to new students who are returning to school after different personal and professional experiences.

There are several paths leading to a master’s or doctorate at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). We must recognize and value the different life paths that lead our students to undertake graduate studies. The new scholarship highlights that a wide variety of backgrounds are welcome in our university community.

A variety of events can cause a person to interrupt their studies, including a career change, a return from time spent starting a family or caring for loved ones. On the other hand, all kinds of aspirations, ambitions and changes in life circumstances may lead to a desire to start a new career or to give it a new impetus based on the completion of a graduate degree.

In line with institutional goals of equity, diversity and inclusion, in November 2021, INRS senior management announced a first personal donation commitment totalling $4,500 to create the INRS Career Transition Scholarship.

Warmest thanks to Luc-Alain Giraldeau, Michel Fortin, Claude GuertinCaroline Painchaud and Isabelle Boucher for their leadership in creating the scholarship.

This collective project allows you to make a real difference for people with atypical backgrounds, so that they can realize their dream of pursuing higher education with us.

Help us to encourage our students undertaking graduate studies by contributing to the INRS Career Transition Scholarship. Thank you very much for your support!
