Today, our graduate Bochra Manaï (Ph.D. urban studies, 2015) has been appointed the first Commissioner to counter systemic racism and discrimination at the City of Montreal.

Ms. Manaï is interested in immigration issues and the dynamics of exclusion and inclusion in urban communities. She was previously the director general of Parole d'ExcluEs, an organization that fights against poverty and social exclusion in Montréal-Nord. She was also coordinator of the Table de concertation jeunesse de Montréal-Nord and a researcher and lecturer in urban studies and intercultural relations.

We wish her every success in her new role.
