Paul Boudreault (M.Sc. Water sciences, 1986) and his company Bosk Bioproducts obtained government funding of $2 million for a demonstration plant for the production of bioplastics made from wood by-products and paper mill residues. [April 2021]

Loick-Alexandre Gauthier (Ph.D. Energy and materials sciences, 2016) is appointed Senior director, Innovation institute, at Conseil de l’innovation du Québec. [April 2021]

Oussama Moutanabbir (Ph.D. Energy and materials sciences, 2005), professor of engineering physics at Polytechnique Montréal, obtained funding of $8.3 million for an atomic tomography research infrastructure project from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Innovation Fund. The Government of Quebec, Université de Montréal, École de technologie supérieure, McGill University and Université de Sherbrooke are also partners in the project. [March 2021]

Marie-Pierre Ippersiel (Ph.D. Urban studies, 2004), is appointed Co-Chair of the Net-Zero Advisory Body. This independent group of 14 experts will advise the Government of Canada on the best pathways to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. [February 2021]

Sébastien Fecteau (M.Sc. Water sciences, 2006) is appointed Manager of system operations, projects and maintenance at Énergie Stockage EVLO, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec. [February 2021]

Amin Ebrahimzadeh (Ph.D. Telecommunications, 2020) and Professor Martin Maier have just published at Wiley the first book on 6G technology, entitled Toward 6G: A New Era of Convergence. [January 2021] 

Bochra Manaï (Ph.D. Urban Studies, 2015) becomes the first Commissioner of the fight against racism and systemic discrimination at Ville de Montréal. [January 2021] 

Martin Bolduc (Ph.D. Energy and Materials Sciences, 2004) has been appointed professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Research Chair in Smart Manufacturing at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. [December 2020] 

Patrick Lafrance (M.Sc. Water Sciences, 2001) is promoted National Vice-president, Ecology and environmental impact, at WSP in Canada. [November 2020]
